Cahaya: ustaz Asri

CahayaMu penuh Kemuliaan
CahayaMu Penuh Kasih Dan Sayang
Memimpin Kami Menjulang Panji
Berbalas Senyum Dalam Redha

Mengajar Ertinya Ketaqwaan
Mengajar Ertinya Ketabahan
Memutih Hati Yang Kian Rawan
Penawar Jiwa Yang Melara

Biarpun Mata Terpejam
Kasih Tetap Di Hati
Terukir Peribadi
Segirang Matahari
Memancar Hari Sanubariku.. Berseri
Menerangi

I know this entry is a week late, but I've been really busy this week.

When Puspa told me of Ustaz Asri's death, I was stunned.
As facebook status starts flooding in on his death, I started to re-listen his songs in the car,a habit that was just created for the last one week, and a rare one I could say, as I never play nasyid songs in the car. A pleasant surprise as opposed to my usual Metallica-PInk Floyd-laden playlist, but still, for a sad note in remembrance of a favourite munsyid of mine.

I know I had always been less forgiving to other nasyid groups, 1) because they don't sound nice anyway 2) they gave my alma mater a bad name = apakah itu cinta ukhhuwah ana-enti? ewww tolonglah sangat plastic!

The only super exception given was to Rabbani.
I kept thinking of this song, one which reminds me of him now that he's gone.

Its one of the first nasyid songsI listen to when I got myself in to read law in the Garden of Knowledge and Virtue. Its quite superificial to relate nasyid songs with the campus, but one cannot escape from listening (and liking the better ones?) after 5 years of study. Especially the overplayed intro to Intifada, everytime there was an opening ceremony in the uni. But I discovered that I can enjoy Rabbani's music arrangement, yang sangat tidak mendayu-dayu although my "pendengar nasyid tegar" friends would always prefer other nasyid groups.

It remained my only favourite, and with Ustaz Asri's demise, I could not help from missing his voice and presence.
Teringat takbir Ustaz Asri raya nanti mesti sayu.

Innalillah.
Thank you Ustaz, for your wonderful music.
I'm forever grateful for your guidance in seeking eternal happiness.
Semoga Arwah ditempat di hamba-hambaNya yang dimuliakan.

Ameen!

Alfatihah for him.
Aku pun suka lagu Cahaya ni. Walopun aku tak gemar sangat dengan Rabbani, sebab aku cuma suka Raihan je... Hehee..
