argumentum ad ignorantiam

I live in the State of Selangor all my life.
That, includes KL~lah (geographically).

I have friends from a healthy mix of everything.
From tudung labuh to the ones wearing mini skirts.
And if I could tell my future generation something out of this society, I'll tell them this:

"its pointless arguing with someone who has lopsided view.
Fact, is proven, not assumed.
Yes, stereotyping and prejudice is damn ugly, but you shouldn't be too"

Why do I suddenly blog about this?

Well, I have repetitiously found trouble with over-righteous people than rightly righteous ones.
This one person had said something in her kampung that disgusted her, something about young boys ferrying the girls on their motorbikes.

To my retort I said "well, don't judge too quickly. The ladies could've been their wives, mothers, etc. Our Duty when seeing, is to keep good zhan (assumption), but when given duty to correct, do it in a good hope"

She responded at length, all her argument is valid, but what riles me off when she said those who live in her Kampung knows its all facts, nothing is judged too quickly.

hak ena. Apa ke halnya marah?
Tak makan cili, tak terasa.
I was just relating to stop pre-judging, not really disputing her 'factual' feelings.

But the fact she went on and on about what this Imam said, what is the Prophetic tradition, made me further wonde: why is she so defensive?

Hm. Maybe she felt I was correcting her.
Haish. I was not.
Its merely my p.o.v, after all this years living in a Big City (again she claimed her kampung's case is even worse than in KL), this is how I react to such things.

Truth have to be told nonetheless. I agree.
But there's always a gentler way to convey it.
For me her statement, if I'm one of those kids, really put me off lah.

Tapi like I said. Pointless la argue with this type of people.
So it ended up like that.

But in retrospect, Maybe I should've asked her back these questions.

Instead of lamenting about it, do we really do our part to help those people?
Do you actually know what's happening? Their story?
You think you're exempted from all this social ills, by conjoining your disgust, by inciting more hate, by portraying all those bitter remarks twinned with religious reasonings?
Do you think, by posting that, you're portraying the warmth of gentleness of the religion?

And last, if the kids ever want to change, by these prejudices and stigma they have to live, do you think people like you can make it possible?

You Tell Me.

paling menyampah kan, kalau orang yg ada twisted judgment start basing their arguments by using dalil agama.
